Elaine Jones

Elaine was brought up in the Midlands and studied art at Newcastle Under Lyme College before undertaking a painting degree at Loughborough College of Art & Design. Whilst a student she won the Fine Art Award and spent six months studying painting at Granada University in Spain. She now lives and works in Bristol, based in a city centre studio. Elaine creates compositions which display both a sense of depth and space. She incorporates contrasting elements consisting of smooth serene areas juxtaposed with dense and textured layers of paint. Her paintings are primarily abstract but by drawing inspiration from both rural and urban landscape they often suggest a familiar sense of place.
