Paul Lewin was born in Manchester in 1967. He completed a degree in Fine Art at Bristol in 1989 and after leaving college lived in St Just-in-Penwith in West Cornwall for 10 influential years. He now lives in North Devon, another area with a richly stimulating landscape, but still maintains his links with Cornwall.
Paul has developed a unique painting technique, working largely en plain air and in all weathers, he uses a mixture of paint and pastel often working into the surface of the paper. He says that “capturing the sense of place amongst the constantly changing light, tides and seasons” is his “challenge as a landscape painter”.
